Some people really believe that their spiritual selves are so important to who they are as a person. They feel that if they pray or if they learn a lot of new things through spiritual acts, they are growing in a way that they could not have done before. Some people report these epiphany’s to actually make them more happy in their everyday life. However, other people find it to be completely redundant and unnecessary for many reasons.
- Despite negative religious messages, research shows those that espouse a tenant of faith are happier than those that don’t.
- Studies back up assertions that believers, are on average, less depressed and less anxious than non-believers.
- Believers also seem to have a higher quota of resiliency with which to handle the vicissitudes of life.
“Across the spectrum of organized religions, the message is clear: the observant should be prepared for their allotment of unhappiness in this mortal vale of tears and put their faith in a happier life to come.”
